Web Search Tool

The web search tool I found to be useful was WebCrawler Web Search. WebCrawler uses the Web's top search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask) together. It is a registered trademark of InfoSpace, Inc. and allows you to search images, video, news, yellow and white page information. When you search for something and a list of links comes up for you to choose from, it will show sponsored results and have who sponsored the ad below the description of the link. For example, if you were searching for digital cameras one like might come up with digital camera prices and underneath it, it will have sponsored by pricegrabber.com.

Project #1

Corporate Blog-For the corporate blog, I chose to do Dell. This blog is very interactive and has about six different blog topics (Direct2Dell, Dell Channel Blog, Dell Shares, Inside Interprise IT, Education Blog, and Dell TechCenter). It offers a lot of useful information and keeps people up to date on all of the newest dell technology.

Musical Blog-For the musical blog, I chose to do a Classic Country Music Blog. The music blog page list a number of different artist on the left side of the page and the number of post that each artist has. Some of the blog posts have videos of the different artists singing their songs. Others have posts by people telling about going to see them in concert and how they enjoyed it. I enjoy country music so coming to this blog and reading the different posts people had left was really interesting.

Educational Blog-The Tech Blog--all about technology focuses on IT related technology. This blog lists some pretty neat "how to" articles as well as news and events. On the blog site, I liked how they had a poll on it asking what would you like to see more on in TechBlog. This blog can keep everyone "in the know" of new and changing technology in today's world.

Political Blog-A political blog and I am familiar with is the CNN Political Ticker. CNN Political Ticker lists current and happening information of politics and the government. CNN is one of my favorite websites to visit to read all of the news happening around the world.

New To Blogging? Watch This Video!

If you are not sure what a blog is or how it works, the video called Blogs in Plain English will help. The video explains why blogs are such a "big deal." To view the video, just click on the large arrow in the middle of the video window below.

Whole-House Surge Protection

It's important to protect all your electronic devices, not just computers, from surges. Printers, televisions, appliances and computer peripherals all require protection. However, it can be inconvenient to use individual surge protectors on all devices that need protection. One solution is to install a whole-house surge protector as shown in this photo. The device is installed by an electrician and is attached to your circuit breaker panel. Whole-house surge protectors function like other surge protection devices, but they protect all electrical devices in the house at once. The typical cost of $200 to $300 (installed) is generally less than buying individual surge protectors for every electrical device in your home.

iPad

I think the iPad is a really neat new form of technology. It's very lightweight (1.5 pounds and only 0.5 inches thick) which makes it easy to carry around with you. An iPad has all of the features and more of a laptop and if you are someone who likes to travel a lot or has to travel for business, the iPad would be more suitable to carry with you than carrying around a big laptop. I like all of the features the iPad has to offer and I even like how it is designed with a touch screen! It offers up to 10 hours of battery life and is designed with a slight curve to make it comfortable to hold.
